It feels like a million years ago. Certainly another lifetime.
11 years ago I owned a little shop with my friend. We sold all things girly, fun and fabulous. Shoes, clothing, accessories and lingerie. We sourced from local designers. The idea was to lift up women in business.
My friend was an accountant and I was the marketing person, so on to social media I would go and show off our designer’s stuff and talk about the latest things happening at the store. Anyway, I found a folder on my old lap top of pictures the other day – my old social posts. This was one of them.
This one woman we bought from made gorgeous collars. That’s all she did. Lace, feathers, fabrics and leather. So cool.
We had big plans for that little store. We had a 5 year plan of working out the best product mix and looking at designers all over the world. We wanted to create a fun experience and then take it and franchise it. Our empire of amazing, creative women.
Sadly, this was around the time that, as my ex husband would say, I pulled the pin on the grenade that exploded our marriage. Naturally it was all my fault (No).
During the insanity that was our break up he told me, “I’m going to take half of your half of *insert business name here*, and sink in. Set it on fire and salt the earth.”
So I did the only thing I could think of, I signed over my half of the business to my friend and co-owner. So I had nothing. Well, that’s not true, I had amazing memories and experiences. And some pictures apparently!
I’ll probably post a few of these just because.
