2019 and wishes

It was the first year since I began noticing them that Neil Gaiman didn’t write a “New Year’s Wish”. Which at first made me a bit sad, but then, when I thought about it/reread some of his past year’s wishes, got me thinking I should write my own.

With that, here is my wish for myself and for you.

On the dawn of this new year, 2019, (hello, day 2), I have two big wishes for you. One, I wish you a year where your love cup overflows. That you are filled to the brim with life experiences, whether it is people or adventures, or trying new things – that your heart is so full that you are able to spread the love to others and pass long the gifts of kindness and care, and maybe even teach something to someone. Be a fountain of love!

It is hard to love and share from a dry well, so my second wish for you is one of mindfulness. Be present in the moment so that you can acknowledge the amazing, the painful, the beautiful and the heartbreaking – so you can find the lessons and gratitude always. I hope with it comes a new understanding and empathy for others. May you grow and evolve into an even better version of you – awake and enjoying each gift of a day 2019 brings.

Happy New Year, you fantastic humans.
