This is a picture many years ago outside my hometown, and it was a path very close to the old main road – right now the bridge foundations are pillars for statues – which is immediately behind the photographer (me).
The area below shows the remnants of the waterway which now is much smaller due to the nearby hydroplant, and the wooden structure is an old salmon trap. Stuff like that has been built way back, or left to remain, as historical structures.
A tunnel leading to the old fallout shelter for the town. It’s part of a 120 year old military base set on top of the highlands looking out over the bay. In recent years a non-profit history group has started to restore the base, and I hope they restore the fallout shelter part. Being on the top of the hill, it’s very Vault 13 like. In fact, the entrance to the tunnel used to say “Fallout Shelter 31,″ but that has been covered with graffiti. This is why I don’t like graffiti; it destroys history.
This tickles me more than you could know @drcouts. 🥰
Okay! My twins and I were out for an evening walk down to the beach and lagoon area.
In the centre of the lagoon is a fountain. We stop and enjoy it all lit up in the fading light, and as we look my youngest (by 2 minutes) breaks the silence says “It looks like a dick”.
