#5 Snoopy’s Christmas vs. The Red Baron by The Royal Guardsmen

I never had a copy of this record as a kid but I LOVED this song. It makes me think of Christmas’ at my grandparent’s. I had lots of aunts and uncles and the house was always filled with music and lots of laughing.

One memory in particular that strikes me when I hear this song is driving back from Christmas Eve midnight mass in my Granddad’s car. I was in the back, cuddled into my Aunt. It was a clear night and I looked at the stars out the window, always fascinated how the moon followed us. I even remember the refection of the dashboard’s glow. This song was on, and my Granddad was tapping the steering wheel to the beat.

“Is that a red light I see up in the sky? Al could that be Rudolph? We’ve got to get to bed!” My Grandmum said putting her hand on on my Granddad’s arm, while leaning looking out the window

“Doll, I think you might be right! Becky, can you see them out there?”

It was total Christmas magic. I remember being SO excited, when I got back to their house I jumped into my bed (my uncle’s bottom bunk).

When my own peeps were little, I always pointed to the sky. And think of them.
