American healthcare is the way it is due to government intervention and massive regulation. Additionally, government-provided anything yields awful results which is why the VA here (Veterans Affairs) is unpopular. Some of the international base indicators for health outcomes are infant mortality, obesity rates and life expectancy. Here’s some stats, from America’s own Health Ranking Annual Report 2018 (so these stats are going to look a fuckton worse post pandemic data inclusion):

And just because I know your education system is a fucked as your healthcare system I’ll explain it to you like you’re a six year old; The OECD is the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development which constitutes a group of 36 of the worlds most developed nations.
Only Chile, Turkey and Mexico are more unhealthy places to live than the States.

Canada still has a lot of work it could do to make it’s systems better, but I don’t live in fear if my family gets sick, how I’d pay for medical bills. How could anyone defend a system that bankrupts people?
