Patience is rewarded for those willing to wait.

With perfect timing, this photographer captured the moment when a Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore arch seemingly caught fire from a flaming orange sunset.

This northern Michigan treasure, invites guests to explore 15 miles of beautifully layered sandstone cliffs along the banks of Lake Superior.

The lake is the dominant natural force affecting the park, and this powerful inland “sea” creates its own weather and climate. Waves from Superior continually sculpt the cliffs, arches, and natural features, creating perfect landscapes for patient photographers.
