Misty and are going on vacation in a few weeks! I’m incredibly excited!!!
Mexico. For 7 glorious days. Adults only resort. Road trip across the Yucatan peninsula to look at property for a possible beach house… It’s amazing to think about.
But in my dream *I* buy the beach house. It’s part mine. Maybe one day. I need to make more money. Or win the lottery.
Boy side has dreamed of a yellow beach house too. I love that we each had this dream before we met each other. Life is sure funny like that.
There are lots of things I didn’t imagine – being in love with a boy that’s a girl was definitely a sharp left turn. A fantastic one.
Mike Dooley (If you haven’t read Playing the Matrix- you should) talks about winning at life in a metaphor about going somewhere you’ve never been but want to go.
You punch in the destination into your google maps, and you put the car in drive and get moving. As you drive (every day taking actions to get to your destination), you are going to be in places you don’t recognize, it’s going to be unfamiliar, and you can’t say for certain that it’s the right way because you don’t actually know. You just have to kind of trust that it is and keep driving. You’ll know when you get there.
Once you get there, you’ll be able to see how every twist and turn was just at the right time and place to get you where you wanted to go – it is miraculous, amazing! And really, life is like that too. When you reach a goal, you look back and think – wow! That all fucking came together like a hot damn! (Or at least that’s what I would say).
I’ve got some destinations punched into my life gps for my road trip of life (these are in no particular order, though #1 is high on my radar):
1) Get healthy (holy fuck, I have been all over the god damned map here) and get exercise back into my life.
2) Financial Freedom – have more money so I can do the things I want, not be in debt, and feel solid in my money matters. It feels terrible to play the shell game with bills.
3) Be an amazing partner.
4) Learn Spanish
5) Finish my book(s)
6) Be a good friend. Online and off.
7) Be a great Mom. (parenting is hard as balls, omfg. My Mum made it look easy)
I’m sure I’ll have more stops, but these are ones that I feel fully right now.
See you on the road.
