My questions for you:

  • What has been and is your greatest inspirations? Multiple answers allowed; persons, art, music, book, nature, events…
  • You are to host a dinner party. Describe the circumstances, the guests (fictional, historical, personal, mythical…), the food, the entertainment, the ambiance…
  • The journey, you wish to make, is?
  • If you could change one thing in your world, what would it be?

Hugs,
Anna

Wow, these require some serious thinking…

Greatest Inspirations –
I would have to say my Mum – Grace under pressure, self assured, good at everything she takes her hand to – I love and adore her and think she is amazing. She is the oldest of 5, and all of her siblings look up to her. She is the one to call when you need solid advice and can also just listen. She has a wonderful way with people. I remember I was standing in a market in Cairo with her and she was haggling with a gentleman over some glass we had just watched them blow and she was speaking to him in Arabic and I was just in awe. The man was laughing and turned to me, and told me my Mother spoke beautifully, had excellent manners and wit and was a hard bargainer. It was one of those beautifully surreal moments.

She also inspired me to read. Voraciously. Be a teacher to yourself. Read varied and different topics, genres. I’m trying to think of books that changed me, inspired me, but there are so many, that list I think would be endless – and I’m still learning, growing changing. She taught me to embrace change. And anything worth doing was worth doing well.

Dinner Party
This may be lame, considering there were no limits on this, but I would really love to have a tumblr dinner party, with my favourite people and those I would love to know more. My dinner list would include:

(I could keep going here too! Ack! I have to have multiple tumblr parties!)

 (the chairs would be different)
The setting would be relaxed, but everyone would be in cocktail attire, I imagine something in my future beach house. The table is beautifully set before anyone arrives. It’s a summer evening, but it’s stormy out, and the dark grey clouds and rough water make a dramatic background. I am a firm believer that lighting makes a room, and everything looks cozy and warm, the fireplace is lit, and I am busy prepping when everyone shows up. We all congregate in the kitchen, and open some of the wine. I’ve made a variety of amuse bouche and a plate for sharing of carpaccio. I delegate chopping and some of the dinner prep, so everyone can work together around the island, and get to know one another before dinner. Starting with a course of seared scallops with a spicy red pepper and cilantro sauce (my favourite recipe for this) , I think.

I’ll leave the main up to your imagination – I can think of a bunch of things that would be fun – everyone making gnocchi? A Thai steak green bean dish? A crab feast?

I’ve already made dessert, several different fruit pies. I love making pie, it’s not an elegant dish but it is always done with a lot of love.

I imagine  the conversation is excellent, there is a lot of laughing and the atmosphere is one of warm friendship. Oh, and the music is mellow.

After dinner drinks (your choice of a liqueurs or scotch) and then off to bed.

Where I am not alone.

My Journey

I’m making it right now – to my beach house, to my success, to healing and to possibly relationship/sexual fulfillment.

Change one thing right now

This is harder than I thought it would be… one thing? One thing can have huge consequences of the monkey paw variety. I had the cloud of “Be Careful What You Wish For” pass over me. I know what you think I’m wishing for. 😉

I would change my financial dependence, so that I didn’t need one shiny nickle from my ex to support my kids, that I was financially free of him. Comfortable enough to look at buying, building my beach house (or have a nice egg building) and could spontaneously travel. And not have to worry about whether or not I can buy cereal this week.

Thank you Anna! These were some really lovely, thought provoking questions.
